The Two Bob cafe in North Fitzroy is a favourite with locals and has been producing great food and coffee for many years now. They only recently put a bacon+egg+roll on the menu so I thought I would give it a try and see how well it measured up.
The scores for the roll are below and I really like this cafe. Service is usually pretty quick - though can be a bit slow when they get busy during the morning and lunch rush. Coffee is excellent, serving St Ali which is one of my favourite brands. Highly recommend a visit to Two Bob if you are around Clifton Hill/North Fitzroy and looking for a cafe to have a coffee and/or a bite to eat.
Scores:
Roll: Brioche roll only ever scores 6/10 for me.
Egg: Egg was done perfectly, a little yoke just slipping off the back of the bun for mopping up later, 9/10
Bacon: Bacon was done well, would have liked a tiny bit more though, 8/10
Presentation: Well presented though no garnish on the plate, but I like the stick through the middle to maintain the structure from the kitchen to the plate. 8/10
Other: They put fresh tomato on it! They also put fresh spinach on it. I'm probably more accepting of the spinach than I am of the tomatoe, but my preference is always for a tomatoe relish rather than fresh tomatoe - I feel it can add so much more flavour. There was a mayonaise sauce which was ok, but perhaps a little heavy-handed, they get 5/10 for other.
Grand total: 36/50
